🚀 Machine Learning Engineer
LLMs, Deep Learning & Agentic Systems
Defence Tech | UK
Are you a Machine Learning Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems and building systems that perform reliably in the real world?
I'm working with an ambitious, VC-backed start-up developing cutting-edge technology for defence and national security.
They're looking for exceptional Machine Learning Engineers who combine strong theoretical foundations with the engineering ability to take complex models from research through to production.
🔧 The technical challenges:
- Design, develop and optimise advanced ML models for demanding real-world applications
- Build LLM-based agents capable of reasoning, planning and executing complex tasks
- Work across multimodal learning, computer vision and real-time sensor data
- Improve model performance, inference efficiency and reliability
- Take ownership of systems from experimentation through to production deployment
- Solve challenging problems around scalability, robustness and deployment in constrained environments
🎯 What we're looking for:
- Strong foundations in machine learning, deep learning and applied mathematics
- Experience training, fine-tuning or deploying production-grade models
- Excellent programming skills in Python, with Rust, C++ or Java advantageous
- Strong experience with PyTorch, JAX or TensorFlow
- Knowledge of LLMs, transformer architectures, model optimisation or agentic systems
- The ability to turn complex research into reliable, production-ready software
Bonus points for a PhD, publications at NeurIPS, ICML or ICLR, or experience working in secure, regulated or resource-constrained environments.
