Founding Engineer | AI & Legal Tech | London, Hybrid
An early-stage, YC-backed startup is building AI infrastructure for high-stakes legal work - the kind of cases where speed and accuracy genuinely matter. Their platform is already being used by elite law firms in the UK and US to draft pleadings and submissions, analyse judgments and transcripts, and locate key evidence across large document sets in seconds. We are scaling their Founding team!
The role:
- You'll own features end-to-end - from figuring out the right problem to shipping and iterating in production. In practice that means building document ingestion and search pipelines that handle large volumes of complex legal material; designing multi-step agent workflows that autonomously handle real professional tasks (surfacing key testimony across depositions, generating fact chronologies, detecting inconsistencies in opposing counsel's filings); and creating interfaces that make genuinely complex litigation workflows feel intuitive.
- You'll also work directly with users.
- As an early hire, you'll also help shape the engineering culture - from best practices through to hiring and mentorship as the team grows.
Stack: Python, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, LLMs, deployed to Azure with GitHub Actions CI/CD.
What they're looking for:
A strong full-stack engineer with high agency, sharp product instincts, and a bias for shipping. Someone who wants real ownership and is excited by hard problems with demanding users.
The role:
- London - hybrid, 3 days onsite near Bank
- £100,000–£130,000
- Meaningful early-stage equity
