Deployment Engineer
We’re partnered with a well-funded defence technology company building software that operates where it actually matters — in real-world, high-stakes environments.
They’re hiring Forward Deployed Engineers to work on the front lines of deployment: embedding with users, solving live problems, and ensuring critical systems perform when it counts.
This isn’t a role where you sit behind a backlog. You’ll be hands-on, close to the user, and responsible for making complex systems work in the real world.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deploy and operate software systems in live operational environments
- Work directly with end users to understand real-world problems — not just requirements docs
- Rapidly build, iterate, and adapt solutions based on real feedback
- Bridge the gap between product, engineering, and real-world use
- Turn messy, ambiguous challenges into robust, scalable systems
What They’re Looking For
- Strong engineering background (Python, C++, Java, or similar)
- Excellent problem-solving ability — you enjoy tackling undefined problems
- Comfortable working close to users in high-pressure environments
- Strong communication skills — able to translate between technical and non-technical teams
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar
Nice to Have
- Experience in defence, national security, or government environments
- Military background or exposure to operational settings
- Experience deploying systems in distributed or constrained environments
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and moving fast
Why This Role Stands Out?
- Your work is used in real operations — not just tested in theory
- High ownership: you’ll see problems through from idea to deployment
- Work alongside a high-calibre, mission-driven team
- A rare opportunity to operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and real-world impact
Who This Is For?
This role suits engineers who:
- Want to get out of purely “internal” engineering work
- Enjoy solving messy, real-world problems
- Like being close to the user, not removed from them
- Want to see the direct impact of their work
